Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Milla Jovovich- Saviour Of The Universe!...
What a great movie! With the world and all creation in peril from ultimate eeevil, The foretold FIFTH ELEMENT (Milla!) must come forth to save us! Perfect! A cab driver named Corben Dallas (Bruce Willis!) becomes her protector until she can fulfill her destiny. Corporate lord / criminal mastermind, J.B.E. Zorg (Gary Oldman!) has made a deal w/ the eeevil in exchange for extreme wealth. Will good triumph over eeevil? This movie is a blast from start to finish! Chris Tucker is a riot in this one as ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This movie was ahead of it's time!
If you like action packed, futuristic stories, then you should probably see this movie.

When this movie first came out, it was so very different then anything that had proceeded it. While action packed, science fiction movies had been made before, none were so deliciously eccentric as The Fifth Element. While the plot of evil taking over and a hero rising to save the day, and humanity, is not such an original concept, the twisted nature of the characters completely made up for this ten ... Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - The Fifth Element (1997) [Blu-ray]
Taking place in 23rd century New York, where flying cars pollute the skies, this futuristic thriller, directed by Luc Besson, is one of the most colorful, vibrant, visually ostentatious films ever made. In it, a taxi-driver with Special Forces training (Bruce Willis) is caught off guard when a scantily-clad, orange-haired clone named Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) falls into his backseat. Regarded and referred to as "the perfect being," Leeloo represents the good in an intergalactic war against Evil, and is ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Bit grainy, but better than DVD quality I guess

This is not a movie review, this is primarily about the quality of the latest Blu-Ray remaster for this movie.

It really isn't all that much better than the DVD quality, kind of gets grainy a lot in scenes. I was disappointed after the amazingly crystal clear blu ray version of Galaxy Quest.

Well the upside I suppose is I get to watch one of my favourite movies of all time in slightly better than DVD quality.

Editorial Review:

Amazon.com essential video:
Ancient curses, all-powerful monsters, shape-changing assassins, scantily-clad stewardesses, laser battles, huge explosions, a perfect woman, a malcontent hero--what more can you ask of a big-budget science fiction movie? Luc Besson's high-octane film incorporates presidents, rock stars, and cab drivers into its peculiar plot, traversing worlds and encountering some pretty wild aliens. Bruce Willis stars as a down-and-out cabbie who must win the love of Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) to save Earth from destruction by Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman) and a dark, unearthly force that makes Darth Vader look like an Ewok. --Geoff Riley
