Surprise - Guys Who Make Movies Are Now Making
Comic Books
By David Rosenthal
By now you're no longer surprised that comic
book writers, stories, and characters are being gobbled up by the
movie industry. You've seen a ton of superhero and comic book
characters in the movie theaters and on television. And not just the
obvious stuff, but lesser known stuff like Frank Miller's Sin City a
few years ago, and more recently his take on 300. Maybe you're even
very observant and a comic book reader and recognize a few names as
the credits roll. Like have you noticed comic book writer Jeph Loeb's
name, mostly known for his Spider-Man comics work, showing up on shows
like Smallville, Lost, and Heroes? Or have you seen the name Brian
Michael Bendis, current writer of the New Avengers comic, show up on
the MTV version of Spider-Man?

Fantastic Four director Tim Story recently
discussed the upcoming release of the Fantastic Four DVD with
www.f4movies.com . He said that they would be adding several special
effects scenes to the movie for the DVD release. He also mentioned
some scenes featuring Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters. He also remarked
that it would be fantastic if he got to work on a sequel for the
Fantastic Four.

There is already talk about a sequel to the
Fantastic Four. Michael Chiklis the actor who played the Thing as said
as early as next spring or early summer shooting may begin for the
Fantastic Four 2. The first one has already broke the 100 million
dollar barrier domestically, and that's just for ticket sales. The toy
sales are bound to make the movie very profitable. Just check out all
the Fantastic Four toys.

With more movie critics giving the Fantastic
Four a hard time than super villains at a lawyer's convention, you
would think it would flop, but the Fantastic Four have triumped over
the reviews of Doom with over 56 million dollars it's first weekend to
become the number one movie this week. It may not be shakespeare, but
it's a lot of fun. The movie leaves you wishing for a sequel next
week. The antics of the Thing vs the Human Torch are really what makes
it worth while. It's like watching a couple of brothers go at it with
super powers.

You may have read some negative reviews on the
Fantastic Four from others, but let me attempt to clarify. If you want
shakespeare, then no I guess it wouldn't make you happy. If your one
of these guys that can recite the name of every person to ever sit
aboard the Starship Enterprise, (super geeks) then you'll probably
find something wrong with this movie. If your an average joe who would
like to take your family to something not terribly offensive with
action, humor, and super heroes, then this one is for you.
It's got a little romance for the ladies, and
plenty of funny scenes for the kids and guys who like to laugh. The
friendly fight scenes between the Thing and the Human Torch will keep
you rolling on the floor. They act like a real family except with
super powers. The two deliver flawless guy humor with slightly
slapstick action in the grand tradition of the Three Stooges, but not
really that unrealistic. Of course their are plenty of car crashes,
and fighting for the action fans.
