The Abbott and Costello movie Here Come the Co-eds was released in 1945. It was filmed from October 24 through December 6, 1944.  North Hollywood Park was the filming location of Bixby college, while the school's main building was a Universal backlot home that was also used in another Abbott and Costello film, The Time of Their Lives.  More Abbott and Costello Posters

Here Come the Co-eds Review
Lou Costello plays Oliver Quackenbush, Bud Abbott plays Slats brother to Molly McCarthy played by Martha O'Driscoll. Slats plants a phony article in the local newspaper for publicity that declares Molly's ambition to raise money to attend Bixby College. The dean of Bixby  played by Donald Cook reads the article and offers her a scholarship. She agrees, but only if Abbott and Costello can accompany her, so they are hired as bumbling caretakers. Costello does some hilarious scenes cleaning up.

Some interesting differences in this picture. Costello actually gets a girl who seems just a little off like him. Costello even sings in this picture.

The plot thickens when a mortgage is called on the school, and only by winning a basketball game bet can the school be saved. The problem occurs when the opposing team brings in some professional women basketball players of such awesome size they dwarf the school's basketball team. Costello takes upon himself to dress up like a girl and try to help Bixby win, but only helps lose the game in the end. Not to be deterred Costello steals the money and takes off running. In the end the crooks are exposed for their crooked ringers, and the school is saved.

Great movie fun for the whole family!
